Well, you guys are really going to be busy, if that all gets done. I have a service planned, oil/filter grease up etc, would check the valve clearances as I have the gaskets ( even the ones with the metal in the middle to stop them deforming ) but its running okay and not leaking so will probably not bother.

I had a first occurance of a slight pull to one side recently on heavy braking. The linings are okay and not oiled but the cylinders are 50 yrs old and work with new seals and SS pistons. I felt the time to replace so have received new repro cylinders, new flexibles and several metal brake lines to fit. ( I recently fitted a repro cylinder to the rear and was pleased with it.)

Its possible the front flexible pipes caused the braking problem. I honestly thought I had changed them about 9 yrs ago. I checked my detailed work 356 work diary and receipts and low and behold it was 1989 now 20 yrs ago since I changed them!!!!

They of course look like new but when they come off I am going to use a new Stanley blade and cut them into 20mm lengths and inspect the internal bore. I will post some pictures when I do it.

It will be interesting to know by Spring next year how much of the work we have actually managed to do. Must say impressed by some of the photos above.

now i have to make room in attic for all the parts spread out in my living room, kitchen, bedrooms etc.

Not much to do this winter.
Just general greasing, changing the oil and checking the valve clearances on the PreA.
Had a fuel starvation problem on both cars, but I think I have solved it by cleaning fuel tank, pipes, fuel tap (although I may have to replace one) and rebuilding/checking pump.
The A goes for it's MOT next Monday so we shall see what that brings.

I wouldn't worry, sounds as though the misses will be long gone in a few days...

Thanks, yes it was- I'll describe the work/car as a three footer. Get any closer and you'll see the bits you shouldn't, but at three foot its perfect. Its taken ages to get to this stage, but its been a good journey.

Wow, thats a nice bit of work there !
Mine is Aetna blue, so might be a bit lighter than yours, if yours is Aquamarine....but they are incredibly similar?

I've got to finish the house (18 months into the project and counting) then i'll have a little be of time to tinker with the 356 and get on the road in time for spring.

Just needs a gentle bit of recommisioning ie brake rebuild & new flexies, normal mot pre checks and a general service. Then onto some improvements like setting up the carb linkage properly tidying the interior and replacing / fitting some seals.

All personel projects are on hold while we wait for our second child....
Due on December 28th

Sounds like you're going to have a lot of expensive Christmas' in the future Paul.
