Bought my MGA on my 17th birthday, so had it nearly 17years and don't think I'll ever sell it. Porsches less time, although suspect the 356 will also be part of our son's inheritance - "the house will go before the car" according to Mrs 58A, and hopefully as a complete running car!

brought on my 35th birthday, while drunk in a pub through evilbay, so 4 years now! best hangover I've ever had

Must be 5 1/2 years now !
Been on the road less time than its been off the road !!
Hopefully be back on the road by C2C

bought the car from at Bournemouth station, i knew i was going to buy it before the car pulled up to me .

Had my Mg from new so thats 11 years, i find it very hard to let go of cars.

I bought mine when I was 24, 5 years ago, then found out a lot of insurance companies wont insure porsches until your 25 or in some cases 30, Doh! found one though that did it for a few hundred quid so got away with it!

Bought my 912 when I was 29 and had it for 2 years now.

Bought my 912 on 21 March 2007 at Brightwells auction. Well, by telephone bid - I was sat in the office at work at the time! So that's nearly 2 years and 2 months. Before that I had my MGB for around 5 years, an MGB GT before that for about 3 and a Morris Minor Traveller for over 5 years before that.

First sat in "My" 911 in August 1979 finally got to own it in Sept 2002 .

I drove it when owned by its previous owner , my apprentice master, and haven't done since....

I really must learn to work faster

My first Porsche was a 356B in about 1974 and then a 356C a couple of years or so later then the purple 911 Targa in 1981 (on my birthday) and finally the white one in June 2006 or thereabouts

Bought mine in October 2001 but first saw it for sale at Stanford Hall in May 01. At that time it was £1k above my price range and I'd just bought a cheap (meaning rubbish) 912. Sold the 912 (thankfully) and then looked at about 10 914's before I saw my one again. It was £1k cheaper as well.

Since then have been to France, Belgium, Holland in it and last year to Switzerland and Italy.

It's had a new exhaust, rear calipers and handbrake cables (and now a new alternator) and that's it. Still on the same battery, it gets oil, filters and spark plugs changed every year but I've never checked the tappets and only changed the points once! Still goes well even if (very, very) smokey! New engine ready to go in once this one finally dies.

Puch rod VW engines ( type1 & 4 ) are recommended 3000 mile oil & 6000 mile valve adjusts ( from memory )

Well I guess when you consider my day job, you could almost claim that it was for the benefit of the company! Especially when you consider that my boss lent me the money to enable me to bid until I had sold my MGB!

Got mine something like 19 months ago when in mid thirties after looking for a few months. Been spending money ever since sorting carbs, bodywork and wheels out. I'll hopefully get my seats back from the trimmers this month as I really want to replace the tombstones that have been in it for the last few years in time for Classics at the Castle.

I don't tend to keep my daily driver for more than a few years due to the high miles I do but can't see me selling the 911 in a hurry as the cost to change to a more original 911 won't necessarily get me anything 'better' if that makes sense? My car is what it is and is good at it. I'm still glad I bought it.
