I have enjoyed following this thread from beginning to end and the result is superb. I think you have a car to be proud of and I hope you have many happy motoring miles. Now I have seen the photos in natural daylight I am convinced it is the same colour as a 73E I used to own.
Just a couple of points............
What about straightening up that front grille and shouldn't the wipers park to the other side?

Saw the car today - firstly on the M1 at ~ 8.15am then in the car park at Husbourne Crawley.

Very nice & good to see it being used properly already.

went back to the car park to come and have a look and you were just leaving, the car looked great coming round the corner by the pub though I tried jesturing to you that your bonnet wasnt shut properly but you looked too happy blasting off down the lane to notice

Thanks everyone for the kind words on the forum and at Husborne today.
It was great to meet more DDK'ers and apologies to those who I managed to miss.
I've been having a great time with the car today and I have already clocked up more than a couple of hundered 'shake down' miles within 24 hours.
The car's running just fine. It starts easy, idles steady, revs freely and runs strong. There's the odd niggle but nothing of consequence and it would be churlish to even mention them here.
I'll post some photos and report some driving impressions later but for now I'll admit I'm busy just using it.

The only real problem seems to be that there must be a loose fuel pipe.
Either that or these things ain't the most fuel efficient vehicles on the planet.
I've got through two tankfulls of Arabian juice already!

Well, seems a shame to get it wet but I've got the excuse that the motor needs running in.
The rain was absolutely streaming down, quite atrocious, but hopefully it'll have cleaned those Husborne cowpats out of the inside wheel arches.
I've been delighted to discover just how effective the heating is.
The car warms up and the screen clears pretty quickly.
All the wipers work and it's been a delight to set out with the expectation that I'll get home.
Needless to say my earlier comment about the loose fuel line was in jest, pretty much everything seems to be working fine.

I can't really report on the driving experience yet as I'm still being careful with the revs but hey, at only 4 or 5,000 rpm I'm already on cloud eight. When I can use over 7,000 revs.....
And the noise... marvelous. For me, I think that's the best bit. Dynamics aside it's been worth the money spent for the sheer aural delight.

However, I can tell you the brakes, handling, suspension, ride and steering are all superb. With a car so well built and so thoroughly refurbished I guess I should expect nothing less but it is a revalation.
These cars can certainly hold their own even more than thirty years on.
But then you know that don't you!
