Cheers Mark. It ran really well on the drive back from S'hampton. Seemed to have plenty of power. The replacement engine seems ok and hopefully good for at least 12 to 18 months. I don't think its a top quality engine and ultimately I may well have it re-built. The bodywork is generally good, but some door/panel gaps are not spot on and tbh the bonnet could probably do with a respray. There are other minor issues with the car which I will sort in the fullness of time. I got her for a decent price, so quite happy!!

I think the question might be about the brief from the client.

Many times have I heard "you really should have x,y and z replaced whilst we are in there" ... "No thanks can't afford it" "Okay it's down to you then if it goes bang"

Then sure enough... BANG.

Don't know the details of this case though, but happens a lot.

The engine currently in the car is not the one rebuilt by Stateside. If/when I do get the engine rebuilt I will be very careful who I choose to do it!

Gavin - will email you as soon as I have some decent pics of the car so you can put it on the Register. Cheers!
