Yeah, sorry Im not to sure what is correct (Convex or Concave). But it is the correct one from Porsche.
Yes, I also have another washer which was put on by the previous owner.
When I pulled out the pivot bolt it had 3 flat washers and no convex washer. So I scraped 2 of the flat washers as they are the same thickness as one convex washer. So I figured I would leave one flat one on when i put it back in. I believe this is because the flywheel was turned in the past and the washers are making up the difference?

I hope this makes sense.
Thanks guys

aah in which case if it were me I'd put that extra washer between the finger spring and convex/conical washer, moving the release fork closer to the release bearing etc

It's very important that the fork doesnt hit the bellhousing in either direction though, so doing it this way will at least ensure that the fork doesnt hit the housing when un-engaged, and hopefully you'll still have enough clearance to the bellhousing when engaged. I guess the only way to know for sure is to put it all together, and as Barry said try it out, then see if it hits either way.

you should be able to put it onto gear using the selecter shaft once the engine/gearbox are together....if you can have a helper turn the engine over buy the crank pulley/fan and watch the output flanges on the gearbox move, then try engaging the clucth (as if putting foot on pedal) and see if they stop and the fork has clearance.

I must point out I've had one too many tonight so hopefully someone will confirm or offer some more clarification on this :drunken:

HAHA thanks Gilbert..
I plan on putting the engine back in tommorrow so I was kind of in a rush....But this seems to make the most sense. Thanks again for your help. If anyone has any other tips please don't hesitate to post.
Cant wait to get it back together and listen to those webbers!!!
Oh by the way the car is a silver on black 71 911T which has a 76 911s motor and a 901 box (obviously) has rs flares and Im trying to finish the rest of the RS look (ducktail, spoiler etc).
Thanks again

Well everything went back together excellent. The problem we are having now though is that sometimes it will shift perfectly other times It willl not go into gear. We are going to take it back out this weekend as i think the finger spring needs to be bent more so it is putting more force on the throw out bearing. Right now the spring is not even touching the fork and I think the throw out bearing is spinning which would explain not being ablel to shift sometimes. Thats kind of where we are at right now. Any other possibilities? Thanks for checking back in.
