What's a 0 231 184 003 distributor ?

I'm trying to rebuild/replace a worn 72 2.4S distributor.

I've seen a brand new 0 231 184 003 distributor for sale, which the seller says is for a 2.4S. As he's in the States, I'd like to be sure it's the right one. Can anybody confirm this ?

Andrew - 0 231 184 003 is a 2.4S distributor.

Incidentally, Scott Kinder who is selling the distributor is a trustworthy guy to deal with.

Andy - I pointed Andrew in the direction of a guy in the US who rebuilds distys - do you know anyone in europe who could rebuild a flakey disty? Just a thought.

Many thanks for the quick reply. This has been more difficult that expected.

My distributor is currently with JZ Machtech, who have a well recommended contact in Germany. But, for unknown reasons, have said they now can't do it.

And last year I tried to buy a replacement from MittelMotor, who accepted the order and then couldn't supply one !.

Koller in Germany will recon a distributor - go to www.koller.de and give them a call. They rebuilt mine last year and did a great job - if i remember rightly it was about £250.

Your buddies at Autofarm (Nick ?) supplied a rebuilt 2 litre distributor for Steve (914/6) - it took a while to arrive, but I'm pretty sure it was a good piece of kit and not too expensive.

Might be worth a try.

I asked Autofarm about rebuilding or replacement.

They could only get me a replacement for a price very close to what I was quoted by Porsche, which was about £770 exchange !.
