Seats

Post by DamianF »

hi folks

the driver's seatback in my car is loose and doesn't appear to have the proper bolts - does anyone know what type of bolts I need for this? Its 73 911T, the seat has black metal frame up the side with two bolts.

Also the seatback has a habit of slipping back when pushing on and through corners - not the safest  I guess this is down to wear in the mechanism, but are there any tips for improving this?

thanks
Damian

Are they recaro seats? I had a problem with mine of sudden reclining, usually while booting it. If you take the side panel off there's a piece of metal that bends over time. A bit of heat and a few whacks and its fine. I seem to remember it being really obvious once you get the seat apart.

Realised which bolts you're talking about. There are 4 on the outside side of each seat yes? I seem to remember them being M10 x 40 Raised Countersunk RSK. I have some plain stainless ones somewhere. The originals are chrome plated steel. I bought grey stainless from my local fastener supplier and then got talking to Southbound trimmers about them. They carry much better polished stainless which you can get looking pretty good. The exact size is in the PET but I can't get to it at the moment. There's a PDF version on the web now if you want to search for it.

They're M8's, not M10. I don't think the length matters very much.
