New Member-Peterborough
Hi, Just found your excellent web-site, have a 1979 911SC which I use as a summer only car! Guards Red and all the usual bits. Interests include Motor Sport and until the end of this season raced an MG Midget.
Last year it was fast but fragile, this year it's just fragile

I sense a certain dissapproval in your reply Helen to members of "newer" cars? I have see several sites which are totally dominated by brand new Porsche owners moaning about their satnav and traction control which totally ignore the older cars. I had hoped by joining this forum to have found like minded individuals who love the older cars for what they are. If you are saying hang on we are really pre-74 but we might talk to you, then I guess I have to continue my search.
Thanks
Mike

sorry didn't intend to sound negative towards you or your car. i own old and new porsches so love them all I don't dissaprove of any of them...as i said you are very very welcome here and at meets and events but, you are unlikely to get a section on ddk as (as it states in the heading)it is a specialist forum for pre 1974 porsches.hlmmic wrote:I sense a certain dissapproval in your reply Helen to members of "newer" cars? the subject of expanding the forum to include other models was discussed at length and turned down, as it was felt this would dillute the specialist information available on ddk.instead Bootsie(our guru/leader) Helped set up The Impact Bumper forum as a specialist forum to compliment/run alongside DDK and this works very well.

Mike, How do you get that from what Helen said?hlmmic wrote:I sense a certain dissapproval in your reply Helen to members of "newer" cars?
Welcome Mike, I hope you enjoy DDK and find it worthwhile to visit us. Impact bumpers may however be slightly more suited to your slightly later model for some questions you may have.Helen wrote:Big welcome to DDK, all are welcome here.

Welcome to the forum: as the Forum intro says, you merely have to like early cars, let alone own one. Great to have you, and feel no pressure to retro your car, we've plenty of earlier big bumper owners here, and even more that started with a big bumper car and have replaced / complemented it with an earlier car.
