CARCOON or AIRFLOW

Due to work commitments it looks like I'll be spending a great deal of next year overseas, so need to store the RS correctly.

Which is better, Carcoon or Airflow? Airflow looks easier to access when erected, but most important for me is performance as it will spend most of it's time inside.

Your advice greatly appreciated.

I have a Carcoon, no experience of Airflow. The carcoon works well, it keeps the dew point away , so the same air recirculates, and birds can't get in and scratch the car. It has a trickle charger too so the battery is always kept in good nic. If you use it all the time it is a pain, and my zip has just gone for the second time, and have sent it back to them today in fact, for them to repair under warranty. It works though

I'd have thought that given the investment you have in the car it might be better to seek out a reputable professional storage firm?

Depends on how long is long though I guess....

Carcoon with the thing tied up to the roof, so when deflated it is still ok to get out the door.

Plus use one of those water air things

I was thinking of asking 'Santa' (the wife) for one of these, but have no experience of it. Seems good in so far as it has a frame to enable you to get in and out of it without it collapsing, as in the carcoon, so I understand.

Anyone got one

'Santa's' just got back from Xmas shopping in New York with my credit card, so should have some brownie points!

I have been using a cairo port for the last three years and there has never been any sign of moisture on the car.

I chose it because its easy to get the car in and out of whereas I understand the carcoon is a bit of a pain.

Yes I agree about car coon being a pain once deflated but it has straps on the top of it and tie them up and it's just as good as the others then..

and helen yes... one of them... works a treat I use mine under a car port that is out side , I use an inside car coon and it works a treat....

I've had an airflow and battery charger for 5 years. In that time it has been on constant use. I've used two electric motors (burned out because I didn't clean the dust filters enough). Its just developed a small split in the roof (I think from cats). It has kept the car dust and moisture free. It drys the car to when its been caught in the rain. That said it is in a friends garage in central Brussels. High moisture levels, really dusty, but not open to the elements.

I think the airflow has been good value.

Good points ... does a really good job of keeping the car in a suitable enviroment.

Bad points .. PITA to take teh car out / put back in - only an issue if you are taking the car out weekly

i have tried both and think the air chambers are better.

they both do the same in terms of creating a breeze to prevent condensation

but the air chamber is easier to use and more durable and have a good resale on ebay when you are done

as air flow say 'its a alot les trouble than a bubble'
