Lighting questions

Post by Bob_Salmon »

Could I dispense with the front white 'parking' lights and wire the dipped beam setting of the headlight into the parking light circuit, or would that exceed the legal wattage limit? Failing that - or perhaps preferable - can I introduce parking light bulbs into the H4 headlight bowls?

What is the legal requirement for the parking lights and for the rear lights/stop light bulbs anyway? Or does anyone have a link to an official list of requirements please.

Cheers,

Bob

Hi Bob,

Have a crack at this:-

http://www.opsi.gov.uk/SI/si1989/Uksi_19891796_en_2.htm

This is part of the Construction and use Regulations for Motor Vehicles, The Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations Act 1989

Should make good bedtime reading.....

Bob - Bosch H4 headlamp assemblies already have a 'pilot' lamp holder for the sidelights.

Thanks Guys.

I thought they had Andy, but then I remembered an old pair in the garage without pilots. I guess they must have been from something else. Anyway, between you both I have the answers.

Cheers.
