Windscreen wiper stuff

Post by MdR »

Right, my wipers now only occasionally sound like they're full of canaries so I learning to live with it until I find another motor.
I have a question regards the wiper arms sweep & park postion.
Having looked at the pics from Volksworld show every DDK car (912/914 whatever) except mine has the wipers parked in front of the (LHD) steering wheel. This makes much more sense as when mine park I get a number of dribbles that work their way up the 'screen & obscure my vision.
Should a '67 model 911 have a different park position? Can I change it on the linkage by rotating the splines on the motor?
cheers

Up to and including the 67 model year the wipers park on the right. From 68 MY on they park on the left

Hi Martin - an old thread I know - just doing some searches and up popped the very question I want to answer!

Did you ever attempt to change the park position to the left?

If so what was the approach?

Thanks

Hi Rich

I changed the park on my 67S to be on the correct right side. It's fairly straightforward to do just a little difficult to get at thats all. Get access to your wiper mechanism through the front. I had to lay in the boot because I also have a front strut brace which made things a bit more difficult.... you see the small link piece between the linkage arms which has to be unbolted at one end. Once you do that rotate the wipers on the screen to the new position and rebolt up the link..... job done.

Regards
Mike
