In which case pehaps the heads have been changed too ? I'm not sure on this one, just a nagging doubt I have....

If you carry on, I'll have to go and take a picture!

73.5T CIS engine, injectors directly into head a la MFI cars. 74 onwards, injectors moved into manifolds.

Whatever the rest of the cars background, it's certainly not a standard engine and as has been stated elsewhere in this thread, to go back to MFI will not be cheap at all.

That is the correct engine number for a '73 2.4S

It is also in the right range of numbers to match the VIN:

911 330 0453 has engine no. 633 0696

911 330 0511 has engine no. 633 0787

cheers andy

I have 300 dpi pics of this car which are obviously much bigger and the car itself looks much better than the distorted jpegs that are on here from muchos

the guy who has sourced the car for me is asking about the cis etc from the guy who is selling it, so I'll keep you informed but any more info appreciated

the price is a lot less than the 55k mentioned above for the rebuilt 2.7 clone

Isnt the oil pressure switch also in the wrong place for a 2.4? didnt they have them at the side of the thermostat?

When I first saw the picture that's exactly what I thought it was, same colour shroud, same CIS but with backdated heat and possibly an earlier 11 blade fan, the pulley changed around 1980 I think.

I agree with everyone else there's something not right with it, I would want to see some build specs on that for sure as I don't see how an SC CIS system will work successfully on 2.4S heads.

Good luck.

The car was not an rs clone. Standard 2.4s body with exception of the flared rear arches (i.e. no rs front and rear bumpers and no ducktail)

I would be very careful. There do not seem to be any good 2.4s cars which are cheap. $55k equates to about £28950. Ask James(Hot 66) if he would let his beautiful lhd light yellow car go for that. I already know the answer.

I was intimating that this car may not be as good as the one you saw (even with correct engine) as it is cheaper

but dont forget you have to add the shipping (£1.5k) and 17.5% of cost of car + shipping plus work to make it uk legal so £29k qucikly becomes £37k which I still think is high price for lhd 2.4s or am I out of touch on prices??

The most recent ads I've seen of 2.4s cars without any questions and in top condition are
LHD £35 to £40k
RHD £40 to $55k

These are advertised prices and have increased over the last 12 months dramatically. The next 12 months may be a different matter.

Hi, looks like the engine has been replaced with a 2.4 CIS (T) or a 2.7 CIS (Sor L) but has had the 2.4S shroud retained, the kjet engines had either black or green shrouds - A mehanical inj engine wil not work with CIS.

If they have swapped bits around then the red MFI shroud will have cutouts for the injectors which would have been in the heads.

The plot thickens

Image

It definitely has an MFI shroud, could that be a plug in the old injection port?

He has a good camera so get him to send a picture of the engine number and type
