Wanted - 1973 rear lap belts

My 'new to me' 1973 911T doesn't have nay rear belts, but does have the fixing holes pre-drilled, so I guess there are original or remanufactured belts I can get. Let me know if you have or know of any.

if you are thinking of putting kids in the back I would seriously think about fitting some 3 point belts in the rear.

It is straight forward enough to do & only requires you to drill a hole through the rear shelf & fit the reel with a substantial spreader plate.

should have added ... I have used the rear belts from a Porsche 993 that fitted really well.

I have also just bought a complete rear 3 point belt mech from sbsquickfit including all the fittings etc. This actually cost the same as the used 993 stuff. ( When it is fitted & working I'll report back

Sorry to hijack this thread but I bought a pair of used Repa belts off a 964 and had the holes drilled and the shelf re-inforced to fit them. Then I found out that one of the belts wasn't working properly and started to doubt the wisdom of using second hand stuff. I've spoken to Quickfit sending them pics and the exact measurements of the repa belts but they won't sell me anything unless I go there. Admittedly I'm a lot closer than you (only about 40 mins away) but I haven't managed to get down there yet.

I'm assuming that your new belts match the hole spacing of the 993 ones. Can you give me a type/part number so I can get Quickfit to send them to me?

I used to use the back seat to secure a basket-type baby seat .

I used the 944 items ...about £20 ...same bolt tread and fit fine.

I would advise 3 point for adults or older kids but for the application I had the lap belt was actually a better solution...more secure

those photos are of the 993 units.

QuickfitSBS supplied me with the shelf mounted reel/mech product code: AR101), the buckle & full fitting kit for approx £50each + VAT + Postage. I also bought a Maxi Cosi Rodi Bjorn booster seat that is great

BUT the reel has 'locked' in transit & I am unable to use it. Quickfit are taking it back to see what the problem is. Must say I have been very happy with their service so far

Will they fit through the holes you've got for the 993 parts though (which look identical to the ones Ihave - part number starts 964 so I guessed they were from this era car)?

TBH I originally only fitted one rear belt because I only had one daughter .... now I have 2 daughters I am only just getting round to fitting the SBS unit ... but I can't see any reason why they would not fit your original holes

I only need the belt for taking my son on the short trip to school, so a lap belt as per my Carrera would probably do, but a three point is safer I guess.

I will pop over to Quickfit to see what they can do - will they provide the spreader plate for the shelf ?

Again sorry to high jack this, but does anyone know the Police stance at the moment on children being in the back seat in cars that don't have rear belts fitted (as in my 1970 T). I understand the theory behind the new law is that the seat belts on 'new' cars are too high for children under a certain height and hence have to have a booster seat. Question is to anyone who has fitted rear belts does the position of the belt look right for an adult or (say) a five year old? (not that I have any yet, but I have a wife who plans far too far in advance)
