Petrol breather tank 911, i think.

Post by nickphillips »

Hi
Tried this in the 911 section, no reply, so i thought i would try it in here. I believe the item in the picture is for fumes from the petrol tank (breather). i know one of the pipes goes to the top of the petrol tank, but where does the other one go?. If this is just used for fumes (no liquid) can any clear pipe suffice???

cheers, many thanks,

nick

Nick - part number 3 is mounted on the outside of the inner wing, behind the headlight bucket.

The whole system is basically for venting the fuel tank & ducting vapours/fumes away to the outside.

After 30+ years the charcoal cannister won't be having much of an effect !

I usually dispense with the whole lot & simply vent the tank up to the short steel pipe that goes through the inner wing (up near the brake fluid reservoir) & connects to a rubber pipe running vertically down the other side of the inner wing.
