Worn carb spindles..!

I'm suffering from worn carb spindles in my 1960 356..!

Fuel leaks out of the bottom of the carb spindles when it's sat making it a bugger to start and when the engine is warm it ticks over like a crazy thing only dying back down when you give it a rev, which makes it a nightmare to drive in traffic..!

Is it possible to have these spindles replaced..? and does anyone know anyone that can do this and approximate cost..?

Or am I better off replacing the carbs altogether..?

I'd ideally like to keep the original carbs on there though

I don't know about the 356, but usually you can buy service kits, overhaul kits, or re-build kits for most carbs. Obviously the service kit is the most minimal, and the re-built kit the most comprehensive.

Depending on the make, there's usually a kit that comes with everything including new spindles and spindle bushes. Like I say, I don't know about your's, but generally you would have the carb body(ies) bored to take (new) spindle bushes, and then these bushes reamed to match the new spindles.

Can't help with contacts, I'm afraid, but worth starting with some of the big carb co's on the net.

They're Solexes . . . without wanting to sound lazy and with it being out of hours and all what cost am I looking at..?
