Black Bosch coil and possibly CDI box

Post by Gilbert '71 T »

Anyone got a decent coil they'd like to sell me? mine's got black goo coming out.

I don't want one of those brazilian made bosch silver ones, i've already had one fail on me before. Becuase of the above I had to put another one on yesterday, trouble is due to a wiring problem that one's cooked as well now, probably why the old coil went gooey..and i suspect in turn my cdi is buggered too

So incase my cdi can't be fixed anyone got one of them or permatune? :(

to top it off I've missed the Northern event, I'm gutted

Cheers all

As far as I know, All CDI can be fixed. I've read all the posts on Pelican and they seem to be a small collection of reasonably cheap and available parts. My dad's an electronics engineer and when I see him next I'm going to give him my spare to see how much the parts all cost.

They certainly can be repaired. I've fixed a few now. Standard parts, available from the likes if RS components and Farnel electronics. The Transformer is perhaps the hardest to repair, but can be re-wound. They are a pain in that the whole pcb need to be removed to change components, and then put back to test it. But there are ways around this. Beware what you touch in there though, but a few belts off the 400V that is generated

As an alternative, classic retrofit do a modern decent coil and CDI+ box.

That made me laugh :) Thought I was replying to a most recent post, not one of the oldest .. So, If anyone needs, I've probably got a three pin Permatune if anyone needs

There is a guy In Northern Germany who repairs 3 plug Bosch CD Boxes for around 275€ incl postage.
He has repaired a few for me. RUF sends their CD boxes there as well.
He will test the CD Box first. For testing he only charges 20€ incl postage.
