Post by kevster »

does anyone know if the 914 fog lamps are sealed beam or changeable? One of mine has blown. gonna be tricky finding a sealed beam lamp presumably?

Thanks - Kevin :?

Kevin

I don't think that the original 914 foglights were sealed so you should be able to change the glass only. Or you can fit modern halogen or even angel eyes that won't look completely out of place.

you can change the bulbs Kev, although to change them it's alot easier to remove the bumber for access to the bracket and lamp unit :( I never thought they were that bright either, so I ended up going for a set of these from Craig at Camp914, should be able to get them cheaper elsewhere though i reckon.

don't look out of place, and loads brighter :)

some were sealed units, some weren't - depends where car delivered too

have loads in a box here

out of interest, the lamps are essentially the same as the horn grille lamps on early 911's and 912's - but with a black backing instead of the chrome.

Thanks Guys - I'll try and pull it apart tonite and have a look - the bumper's been off about 5 times lately so thats an easy one!

How about this for a weird one - when i turn left the stereo resets itself!! Must be the indicator wiring/stereo wiring or maybe the sterring column contacts - sometimes when i indicate at night the headlamps go full beam when the lights are on - think there may be something amiss with the contacts.

I got lots of bits done this weekend - changed the 4 caliper hoses and copper brakes (loads of fun making your own pipes!) also stripped down both doors and greased and fixed some window winder/lock problems which was good.

Ian - I'll pm you re some bits 8)
