Rear BABY seat advice

I've been offered a NEW Britax Roemer Prince baby seat at a really good price, I gather that they are no longer available....

Does anyone have one of these in the back of an early 911 - I have a 1972 2.4E.... I have a keen 2 year old to accomodate

ANY advice or options would be much appreciated...

I don't personally know anythng about this seat but I found this reference to it on google from the NCAP page

"Skoda are constrained to use the child restraints developed for the Volkswagen group and this caused problems as the new restraints, developed for use with points built into the passenger seats, did not work well. In fact the forward facing ‘Britax Römer Prince’ seat that is available for children of weight of 9-18kg when used with the 18-month-old almost completely ejected the dummy on rebound."

Do yourself a favour and go to a pro about the seat, I wouldn't want to live with the concesquesces of something that doesn't fit. I used http://www.quickfitsbs.co.uk/ who are not cheap but then neither are my kids :lol

I use a Britax freeway for my 1 yr old & a superb Maxi Cosi Rodi (from SBS) for my 3year old



I did have a Porsche Prince, but my daughter didn't like it & the rear seatbelt was not long enough either

Hi mark,

First thing you will need is a three point belt in the back, no lap belt is adequate to restrain a child seat. You can use belts from a later 911 on the parcel shelf. Make sure your shelf is not rusty and that substantial reinforcement is added to the underside of the shelf where the fixings go through.

I have resigned myself to not being able to take more than one of my kids in the car until I have my parcel shelf replaced next time I restore the car

Britax seats are generally excellent and undergo real testing and development way in excess of the required standard. I believe the Skoda test is an example of what happens when the seat does not fit. The key thing you need to consider is the shape of the child seat base. If it doesn't fit to the car securely and in a stable manner before you even get the belt on it won't stand a chance of staying put in an accident. If this seat you mentioned is an ISOFIX seat it is highly unlikely to fit as the mountings at the rear of the seat will foul on the seat back even when retracted.

Unfortunately there is no easy answer to this one, the seat shape in the back of a 911 is very unusual and choice is limited.

quickfitsbs have a good reputation and know early 911s, so this maybe the only option!
