Mark, it is a difficult one to comment upon as much of it is down to personal taste.
I first recall seeing a similar set up from Julian (Sp?) at Karmann Konnection who had his fuchs chromed (instead of polished like yours) on his 911 2.4E IIRC.
It looked the business especially as he was a bit of a dude but he had to spend ages keeping them clean.
I prefer the original set up for the year: anodised with black inserts but then again, the original S wheel of 1966 -was that fully anodised -anyone?-
looks so innocent but mightily cool.
The fuchs is a great design icon and that tends to bias me on a car like yours. Anodising them instead of polishing might "bling it down" perhaps?
Cheers I also have a set of 4.5's like in the picture above.. All polished up ( no Chrome )
and I have a set of 2 5.5's and two deep 6's I am going to get these polished and shod to see if I like these better oh and black incert like you say...
