Insurance costs

Post by swapped »

If it's not too indescrete, can I ask how much you pay for insurance on your 914?

I've never looked at classic car policies before - though as my daily car is now 9 years old, maybe I should be covering that on a classic policy too...

If I manage to complete the transaction, I'll have a 1972 914 1.7 very soon - I've been quoted £177 by Adrian Flux, but where else is worth asking, and how much difference does capping your mileage make?

For comparrison, I am male, married, kids, 37, Chester, Driveway, 20 years license, 12 years+ protected no claims, only driver, daily car group 17.

Thanks.

I think I paid about £190 with Footman James last year - fully comp + breakdown cover + cover on any other car(!). Limited mileage and car garaged though (is also a 1.7).

I have yet to get it but when I bought my car 2 years ago...

My quote was £132 fully comp with full European breakdown... Not sure on the limited mileage thing, think this was unlimited... I had a ban pending (speeding on clear straight motorway in dry) also at that time.

I'm 34 now and don't expect it to be much worse than that figure, I have 3 points and a 28 day ban, full NCB and no accidents.

Many thanks for the replies - I'm still working on quotes, but £150 seems to be the norm, which feels pretty much OK.
