I’ve been stung for the £104 duty and costs which isn’t an ideal start … was expected though

Depends how much they stand you I suppose!

I managed to fit the heat exchanger this evening, so turned it over to build up the oil pressure, reconnected the ECU and started it. The anticipation of a whisper quiet engine did not quite pan out….it sounded like an unsilenced tractor. I then remembered the O2 sensor which I hadn’t refitted…which explained the unsilenced clack clack. It wasn’t that the welds had immediately blown out thankfully.

Anyhow, I don’t know where the O2 sensor is, I can’t find it in the engine bay but it is there somewhere. When we put it all together we figured it had been mapped out, which I understand is fairly common. So that’s a job for another day. In the interim I put a blanking plug in there and it is now as quiet as a mouse. Ran it up to temp, filled the oil to half way and it is just about there.

Better still, it appears so far to be completely dry…

I take that back…

The worst thing, it seems, about fixing an oil leak is that it shines a light on another.

It appears I have a lower rocker cover leak around number 2. I have nipped up the nuts (and I tightened the upper cover too just in case it is throwing its’ voice) but to no avail. Looks like I will need to replace the gasket to resolve, but as you can imagine access is poor and would be greatly helped by removing the catalyst I have just fitted! A job for another day then
