Are Recaro's N77 good seats? (KBA90024)

Post by IanM »

Does anyone here have any experience with these type of seats? First introduced in 1977. I understand they had the exact same webbing straps (although 3 instead of 4) under the bottom cushion as the original Idealsitz, so I imagine they are comfortable. But does the designation 'N' mean narrow? How narrow?

Reviews would be much appreciated.(Not be confused with the later models with the square elastic pad or springs instead of webbing straps)

Thanks.

I'm fairly sure that's the model of Recaro seat I put in my '69 911E ~ 25+ years ago.

They were black all-leather seats from a BMW E21 model but I don't think I have any pictures (digital cameras back then used 'floppy disc storage !) - I will have a 'rummage' to see if I have any 35mm images (unlikely).

The seats were quite comfortable - & more supportive than the original seats - but the frames I fabricated to mount them weren't ideal (the seats were too low) so I sold them to another DDKer ... 'Miggs' (Mike Lewis co-founder of DDK with Thomas) who put them in his 912R.

Update:

Arrived today from German ebay.

Looks barely used. Almost like new.

Sadly, it's just one seat (RHS), so I'll be using it as an office chair. I'm going to order a swivel base and adapter from Capital Seating next week. 8)

By the way, how to remove the plastic reclining knob on the hinge?

Thanks.

If I remember correctly, it's just a plastic 'cover' that is a press-fit onto the metal mechanism ...
