Well, that turned out well!
Very nice, love the 'stance' and so few small snags to sort, fabulous.

Detail question Darren looking at your last picture - when were black anodised headlamp rings introduced on G-series cars as I see yours are chrome but the window frames are black?

Car looks mega by the way! Just love everything about it!

I can't really comment much on G-series details Matt as I've only really studied the 3.0 RS/RSR's.......being a transitional car, described by Porsche as a 'facelift', there's many carry over parts from the earlier cars and I expect even differences between chassis numbers!

The big issue documenting details is there being so few cars with the majority being raced, bashed, crashed and modified although there's plenty of early reference pics showing chrome headlamp rings......was less sure about the washer jet nozzles, they could have been black but we opted chrome as well!

In an ideal world I would have preferred suitable faded black anodised door frames, and did buy a set, although nigh on impossible to find suitable quality so mine are freshly anodised and as new......that may change if I'm ever left alone with Richard Murphy's beautiful 78 SC as his frames are gloriously aged!

cheers,

A few hundred steady running-in miles completed and the car is feeling awesome.....

Image

....shakedown has been largely stress free with just a couple of minor issues, a faulty alternator and door lock....the 10K rev counter I purchased didn't work in the car or when tried with a 3-pin CDI and this is currently being looked at by our own electronics guru Tim Bennett (thanks Tim :thumbleft: ) and I'm currently making do the my original crusty 8K tacho...

...I will be making a couple adjustments to the suspension and spring plates and have also purchased a set of 225/60 tyres for the rear which I think will look better and help with nose down rake. There's a 25mm difference in diameter between the 225's and 245's so this will wait until my next Center Gravity visit in a few weeks....

Image

....in anticipation of a rolling road visit on Thursday, we completed a first service yesterday where all fluids were changed, head studs torques and valve clearances checked etc.....

Image

....and so the mods begin....

Image

Image

....mufflers look great after a few heat cycles.....

Image

....after Thursday I can really start leaning on the car.....it's going to be a great summer! :)
