Suggestions Please for our Annual Euro Tour?
We have booked everything but it's all flexible.
The current plan
Euro Tunnel to Belgium
Then Frankfurt, with another Germany stop
Austria Graz
Graz to Zadar, Croatia
Then Dubojvnik to the Durres Ferry
Cross Southern Italy to the Sicily Ferry
Quick blast around the Targa Florio course and sightseeing
Ferry to Genova
Then back through France via Anncey and Troyes.
Probably too much driving and single day stays but I wanted to do one last silly one before we get too old.
Any suggestions for that to see and do? Places to stop at to break up the long drives?

That’s an impressive trip in the 356!
If you’re heading to Austria go via grossglockner pass ( loads of Porsche history) then across to gmund . Hotel near the pass and get up early so your waiting at the gates when it opens
Dubrovnik… if game of thrones fan then visit the locations

Mont Blanc. Something i never thought i would see/do. truly spectacular. We stayed at the southern end of Lac d'Annecy and nipped over to Chamonix.

The wee museum at Gmund is excellent. The original workshop is along the road as well, although it's not a destination and it's definitely a 'blink and you'll miss it' sort of thing.
Dubrovnik is lovely, although I suspect overrun with tourists these days. The island of Korcula just up the coast a bit probably less so. Rovinj is also lovely, but starting to get touristier.
Loads of good fast B-road type stuff in Slovenia as well, and lots of military history - Mrs. Neilbardsley is ex forces IIRC?

Yes Mrs B was fighting a war the last time she was in the area. She has mixed feelings about returning but hopefully the trip will go smoothly.misteralz wrote:The wee museum at Gmund is excellent. Ace. I've only ever been there in a diesel T4, which was wank, and my GTI. Which was anything but.

Ooooh, I still need to get there. Frankfurt to Graz will have you in the rough area of Sinsheim and Speyer as well. Both excellent museums. I like the Unimog museum down that way, too.
Below Frankfurt you're really getting in to 'pretty Germany', so you can't go far wrong no matter where you stop.

Re: Suggestions Please for our Annual Euro Tour?
I suspect only one, and maybe not even one, car museum will be allowed. If I'm going to force Mrs B to sit in a 70 year old car, for thousands of miles, she can probably argue that's enough car stuff
I already got questioned about going to Ingolstadt rather than Munich (because it said vintage car museum in the first line of the goggle description).

Ingolstadt is lovely right in the middle. I actually prefer it to Munich. There is a fancy automotive hotel there which I fancy staying in at some point. Like Stuttgart's V8 Hotel - which is worth staying at just for the Flammkuchen and on-site brewery.

Speyer technik museum is excellent and definitely not a car museum. All sort from carousels to a 747 which you can get a slide down out of it
