Couple of pics of one of my old Beetles appeared on a FB page today - taken in the early 90s when I’d just built it / together with a note from the now owner who has it stashed away to restore

Metal ones too! Came from Mike Key’s garage one Sunday afternoon whilst chatting about Dubs and Rods

Lotus XI which has been in the same family ownership (father and son) since 1961! To me, one of the most beautiful cars ever made. I'd have it alongside my lime green Miura in my dream garage...

I know someone who hillclimed his Westfield version many years ago, but not for long…

Any reason for the 'not for long' comment? Why did he give up? I really fancy one... 8)

There are some incredible horror stories of old school garages still pouring down the drains into broken septic tanks and contaminating the gardens of several nearby houses. One I am aware of was so bad it contaminated the water supply…

We have come a long way thankfully

He ran it for a season, bit less maybe, but drove it to the midland hills a home and found it all too much.
Next year he dual drove a trailered very modified MG Midget belonging to a near life long friend which resolved a lot of issues, and was quick too.
They ran the Midget for years until the owner dies suddenly.

I think he still has the XI but has become a stranger to the events I do.

Like all these cars, road spec is not always right for the track.

Took the pic at the Club's visit to CMC a long time ago. I think this was Callums own car, #1 as it were.

It was going to be the start of some other builds, but not sure if that happened.
