Retromobile

Post by Ian Gunney »

Have managed to convince Mrs G we need to visit Paris (at a time that just happens to coincide with the Retromobile show). Any tips in terms of best places to stay near the show? Am assuming it isn't as big as Essen so hoping a day at the show would work.

cheers

My French buddies from OCL all stay at IBIS nearly next door.
I haven't made it yet but will one day.

Had a weekend in Paris a couple years ago and genuinely did not realise the show was on until seeing a few local posters. Spent an afternoon there and used local transport with ease staying centrally. Plenty of really special cars and would definitely visit again

We stay in Saint Germain just south of the river - great bars and restaurants there. Get a cab to the venue as it's not in the prettiest part of the city.

A day is plenty for the show.

I've been half-heartedly looking at this for next year as well, and honestly? Stay wherever in Paris your wife wants to. Getting around is ridiculously easy and cheap. And quick - unless you're particularly out of the way, it's difficult to take more than half an hour getting between two disparate locations.
