The Porsche crew was Fernand van de Kaart and Alexandre Bacon, who finished 31st overall out of 329 finishers. Not too shabby a result for a little 1100 cc 356!
I was interested to see who was driving the Jaguar Mk 7. The one in the photo was driven by Johan Hazemeyer and "Verzyl" who finished 84th.
Ronnie Adams and James Titterington finished 6th in their Jag Mk 7. Ronnie Adams would win the Monte Carlo outright in 1956 with Derek Johnstone and Frank Bigger (Jo Hodgson's Dad
)
Other interesting entries in the big Jags were Cecil Vard/Arthur Jolly 8th, and Major Charles Lambton (of Wiscombe Park fame!!) in 81st place.
The entry list is a complete Who's Who of post-war racing and rally drivers. Stirling Moss was seeded No1, but the rally was won by Louis Chiron in a Lancia Aurelia.
You can tell it's a cold, dull afternoon and I'm bored and come in to warm up!
