NEC Classic Car Show!

Came to order 2 tickets for the Saturday at the NEC, bit of an annual pilgrimage since the late 90's.

PCGB club discount would almost pay for a coffee....

Stalled when i saw the price, £35.50 each inc the discount plus parking at about £10/15.

Thus cost of entry for 2 would be around £85.
That does seem too cheeky for me, so not going.

You can save yourself the cost of parking by getting the free shuttle train from Birmingham Intl station to NEC (takes ~ 2mins) ...

Is there a car park at the Birmingham Intl station? And how much is it?

What sort of classic cars will be at the show?

I meant that it's very easy to get to by train - no idea of Birmingham Intl station car parking charges.

I've only ever gone if I've had free tickets ... I get bored after ~ an hour ...

seems most car clubs get about £4 off

it is expensive when there are 2 of you

Going to the Restoration show by myself.
At that cost, too hard to justify.
The format never changes year on year.

As stand holders for 4 years, my car club was taken for a ride every time, so we stopped supporting it all.

I liked it mainly for the trade and autojumble stands mostly.

And not to forget the Booking Fee of £2.75, which although it is a per booking fee, (not per person), these charges all add to the overall cost of a trip to the NEC. I shall be going on Friday 7th, but next year.....??

The NEC classic show has been a pilgrimage for myself and 3 friends to come down from Scotland every year. We stay in Premier Inn in Sutton Coldfield on the Saturday night after travelling down on Sat afternoon for the show on Sunday and then home by midnight on the Sunday evening! It is a great show if you are into varied makes. It takes the whole day to see round the show and I feel it is worth it.
So worth it that this year I had the misfortune to be invited to a neighbours wedding on Sat Nov 8th so what to do? Easyjet to Birmingham at 6.40am on Friday and fly back at 8pm. £66 for the flights but no premier inn to pay! Some people go to a premier league match every week and in comparison my one day off in the winter I don't grudge the cost in the slightest!

I tend to agree with the post above - it’s a motorway roadtrip for which I jump into the estate car and take a good friend for a long day out at a time of the year when everything else is pretty much dead, and it’s surprising how often you bump into people you know too. 2 tickets to a Scramble next year are now 60 quid odd - chalk and cheese I know but that’s where things are at. There’s a lot of more work and curating that goes into the Motor Show, and I generally find it throws up some good surprises and conversations.

As a northerner , I assumed the scramble was free !

As a general rule I refuse to pay for classic car shows in fields if my car is part of the show … don’t mind paying if I’m a visitor and I’ve parked in the car park

Top tip: There are good amount of Rovers parked in Eastbourne and they are free to view.

Comparing these to earlier prices, such as the 2016 advance adult price of £20.50, shows a significant rise over the years. 2025 advance adult tickets priced at £46 for Friday and £39.50 for Sunday, a significant increase from a reported £38.50 for door entry in 2023, according to a Facebook post from November 2023.
