911 fan adjustment

Post by roger »

I've just had a reconditioned alternator fitted and the belt is slipping slightly. However, it appears that the nut that secures the outer half of the fan pulley has been tightened with an air powered tool and cannot be shifted. Would someone tell me whether it is a right hand or left hand thread please - not sure if I'm trying to undo it the right way as its forward facing in the 914 and difficult to see.

Thanks

Its a standard right hand thread so you need to be undoing it anticlockwise. Are you using the correct too to hold the fan?

Thanks Nick - the answer to your question is no - I'm not using the "proper" tool but I made one myself. It should be OK, but I think I need another pair of hands - one to hold the tool in place and the other to undo the nut!
