Boxster Insurance renewal:
Quote for my 2.9 Boxster today, gone up by 12% to £363.
Just a heads up, 5 years or so with LV.
Need to shop about to see if there is somewhere cheaper but same cover. (LV cover is nothing exceptional)

Re: Boxster Insurance renewal:
So far:
LV re-quote on the phone, £304, miles down from 12K to 7K / year.
SAGA £268 and 7K miles
Direct Line £277 and 7 K miles
Have a few others to try.
Been with LV with this car for 6 years, seems that could for nothing (of course) so have cancelled auto renewal with took the bill down to the £303.....

Re: Boxster Insurance renewal:
So, bit fed-up playing this quotation game, so here are the results!
SAGA £268, fixed for 3 years
Direct Line £277
LV= £304
General Accident £360
AVIVA £433
Porsche Insurance £2308 (yes, £2308)
Looks like it will be SAGA, nearly £100 cheaper from the LV= quote, and my 6 years loyalty / phone call got me to £304, so they are in the bin. Doubt they will notice. Their greed cost them the business.
The Boxster, £12000 value, 7 K miles / year, wife covered as back-up and both of us in our early 70's.

Re: Boxster Insurance renewal:
.
Just for information, I had a claim through Direct Line on my daily driver a few years ago (not my fault) & the whole process couldn't have been handled better or quicker so, based on my experience, I'd definitely insure with them again if they were in contention ...

Thank you Andy, good to read.
We had a similar experience too.
SAGA at slightly cheaper but 3 years cost fixed.
Experience does count though.

I had all our ‘normal’ cars insured with Direct Line for longer than 15 years, but over the last 2 years their prices have gone silly and non-negotiable. One daughter now with Aviva, 1 elsewhere and SWMBO & my dailies as of this week with RAC (saving 25% vs DL). What happened to loyalty !

Re: Boxster Insurance renewal:
My daughter has just moved from and MX5 to a nice sensible Golf auto (nice car actually).
The AA were the best spec for the price and she is careful about these things.
Might try them and the RAC and see what comes of that Friday.
Installing a 2.4S drivetrain tomorrow with a fellow DDK'r. Hope it is cooler than today.

Re: Boxster Insurance renewal:
And finally,
AA nearly £300
RAC £230 but cover a bit weaker than the others.
Saga or Direct Line then.

Re: Boxster Insurance renewal:
Only time in recent years I made a claim when I was when rear-ended in my Alfa 156. Directly Line paid me in two weeks and offered to pay me more than the book value. Highly recommended it not for a modified car.
As an aside… Although a different part of the company, I was insured with Direct Line when our house was damaged in the storms that swept across the south/ east back in January 1990. Again, they paid within two weeks.

Re: Boxster Insurance renewal:
And these are when you find out about a Company.
I've only made 2 claims in all my life.
Our Ford Escort Cab was stolen, reparation was swift, not sure who we were with, a long time ago, and recently rear ended by a Golf which was rear ended by a Taxi.
Latter was DLine 7 years ago.
Resolved very quickly, repaired in 2 weeks.
Pity the quality of the repair was poor (chassis NSR was still bent).
D Line was not interested in resolving that...
