8’s & 9’s off to Nick Moss for refurbishing with early Fuchs finish tomorrow (or as close to it as he can get)

Hi Matt
I probably missed or have forgotten you were looking for early Fuchs.
Pity, I have a set of very early 8’s and 9’s refurbished by Harvey in the US and I’m never likely to use them. Never had tyres mounted, still in the box.
Here they are stripped inspected by Harvey and prior to his refurbishment. There is something quite special about them.

I had them done in RSR finish.
Regards
Mike

Yes, I think you showed them to me at the 2021 DDK swapmeet Mike!
I’ve since scoured the planet for original early 8’s & 9’s and found 2 x 3/71 9’s and 1 x 8”, the other being an RS 8” (3/73).

…interesting that the 8’s weigh exactly the same as the 9’s (5.8 kgs each), notwithstanding an inch more material in the 9’s…

I don’t think the RSR finish as it’s called now is the same as the early Fuchs finish: Serhad’s set of unrestored 8’s that I went to see (sold to Matt Blast in the USA for just under £10k…) had more of a matt / satin finish on the lip rather than polished:
