Post by hot66 »

It’s that time again where thousands of UK classic cars head to France for Classic LeMans …. so thought for those of you who aren’t with us all here is a thread that will hopefully be updated as we go .

Looks like this year is going to be a warm one !

The last one we went to was impossibly HOT and that put the cap on it for Mrs HC.
Hope it cools well in the evenings!

Look forward to the daily reports.

Good luck to all making their way there.

That was the year (2010 I think ? ) my car spat a rocker shaft on the way home and the year we spent a lot of time in the supermarkets airconned cafe

I’ve done every CLM since 2006 and still looking forward to this one

Please don’t judge me too harshly, but ...

After two weeks of it under a tree at Port Solent while I was dicking about sailing & the local birds of the feathered variety were using my car for target practice .....,

I had to give it a rinse over so that I could see out. Oh the shame

Image … not quite gone as planned … filled up with 72 litres of fuel at the local station… walked back to car to see fuel pissing out from under the tank all over the forecourt Image

Image

Sprint back home prepping to swap cars and somehow how drain the Tank .

Stripped all luggage out and my tool kit and found the breather had been knocked off by the tool bag !

Image

Obviously when filling and almost full petrol escaped and ran down the side of the tank .

Anyway, 1hour behind schedule and on my way

I’ve arrived at my hotel … Jesus it was hot on the way down. Windows open , rear windows open , 80mph and it was still too hot and too noisy for long distance motorway stuff. Most Drivers on the roads are numptys too . But for once didn’t have a single hold up and the run was quite straight forward

Nothing like neat fuel pissing on the floor to highten the senses ;o Glad it was a simple fix and hope you all have a great run. I have earmarked CLM '27 for a revisit. Looking forward to the updates here!

Fuckn battery wouldn’t turn the car over! Luckily I bought a portable booster the day before as I wasn’t sure about it. So it was off to Halfords

Fitted it in halford car park and off I went
