1970 LeMans - changes made from std 1970 911 Ts and Ss to convert them

Post by Bootsy »

Trying to help out a friend who is writing an article and he needs some research around 1970 Le Mans

Do you happen to know what changes were made from standard 1970 911 Ts and Ss to convert them to GT 2 and GT 2.5 regs for Le Mans?
He’s guessing cage and restrictions on engine power but does anybody know or have any reference to this?

He can look at the FIA 3025 document for 1970 cars which will give him the background on what was allowed. From memory i think document 3011 would also be helpful. Yes the Rollbar was a requirement. The 1970 race was also the first time a full race harness was required to be worn at Le Mans. Matt should be able to help more as he is an avid student on the subject.

Seems 1970 was the last year you didn't need to race at Le Mans with a Roll bar....Madness.
Mandatory in 1971.
