RHD 2.2S info: Do you know of any?
Hi all,
I am trying to pull together a list of what RHD 2.2S (both 1970&1971) are still around and also get the vin and motor numbers if possible. My first quick search has returned only 8 cars, some of which I still need car details.
I am informed that only 70 RHD cars were made for the UK market, 34 in 1970 and 36 in 1971: (can anyone confirm?)
So far I have
1970 :9110301252: Currently undergoing a full resto (my car)
1970: A black 2.2S that was for sale last year: Was also at Husbourne: No details
1970: 9110300948: Silver: Sold by AutoFarm
1970: 9110301272: Metallic Gold: Sold by AutoFarm: May be from Hong Kong
Steve Wright's car: No details
1971: "YOA 884J": My old car: Can't find the details
1971: 9111301294: Metallic blue: For sale at Export 56
1971: 9111300720: Blood orange: Sold Export 56
If anyone has any other details can they please let me know.
Thanks

Hi,
Andy, are you able to say where that info is from and is it 100% correct? Also does anyone have the vin numbers for all the UK supplied 2.2S. I know they exist.
Thanks for the info on the Olive green one. I will call Mark about it. I want to find out how many are still on the road. I am sure there are several more projects parked up in garages as well.
Any more
Alan

The information was retrieved from AFN's (the sole UK importers of Porsche at the time) archives by Mark Waring & Richard Cole - back in the mid '80's I seem to remember.
I got a copy of the register from Richard in 1998.

Hi Nick,
Thanks for your mail. Can you also send me the vin number, and any other details of your car and I will add it to the first post. I will also send you a copy of all the details I have.
We now have 10 maybe 11 cars from the entire 78 ever produced! There must be more out there.

Hi, I emailed Vic and he got back to me saying that he never had a RHD car and that it was LHD!
Still searching for more RHD 2.2s. I found one in Denmark and now waiting for the vin to check to see if it is a UK car. I now have 12 cars.
Thanks again
Alan

So Alan, if you end up with a list of less than 20 cars and Nigel's list (of 2.4's) is about 40 and then you factor in the assumption that the earlier 2.0 litre cars had similar production numbers numbers and survival rates, it could be that there are only about 75 UK RHD S's of any year remaining.
Even assuming more cars emerge as values rise there surely is less than 100 cars extant in this country.
