The picture looks just like a normal ate 1969-83 rear caliper.
Do you have a picture of the fracture..?

No pic of the fracture at the mo, it was peeing with rain when I took these ones! I'll send you a pic when I get it off, shouldn't be to long I;ve odered some replacements today.
It's definitely alloy though, if I scratch the surface it's shinny silver. All the calipers have been changed for alloy ones. But since then one of the fronts has been changed, I think reasonably recently, for a steel one and it looks very different to the rest, starting to rust and corode.

Hi Tim,
Looking at the first of your caliper pictures I can see brownish looking traces on it which looks to me like the corrosion you would see on ferrous material. Ali alloy would leave a white powdery deposit. If you could lift a part number off the unit I would expect somebody here would be able to positively identify it.
