Rather more mundane, but new seat belts fitted to the Lola. Worn the previous set for 2 hours in years = a new set needed!

Ended up being accidentally (and enjoyably) productive today. Was bright and cold this morning, perfect for mountain biking. Was heading out with my eldest when he suggested taking the 964 out afterwards. Since it was a nice day and everything. I mentally filed that under 'nice idea, but it'll p155 it down in an hour' and thought no more of it. An hour later, out on the trails, it was still sunny and my mind started wandering. I could take it out, couldn't I? I could get it properly warm, check that that repair to the starter is good. I could drop the oil as well. Hmmmm...

Ten minutes later and I was out of the mountain biking headspace and the trails just weren't flowing. Sod it. Home. Lunch. And it's still sunny.




There are some nice twisties by us, but they were mildly ruined by folk off to the beach. Which put paid to my idea of documenting the first run out of the year by the dunes and machair. Next village down the coast has a cool lighthouse. And was obviously gridlocked a kilometre out. "What about the UFO filling station?" suggests number 1 son. Yes. All the yesses.









Heading home my stomach drops as a motorbike polis pulls up behind me at a set of lights, but miraculously he buggers off to ruin someone else's day.

Still warmish, still loads of light.











The old oil was still clean, and the drain plugs weren't too Christmas treelike. And the RS engine mounts I fitted months ago have made a great difference to the feel of the whole thing as well. The gearshift is noticeably better and cornering feels more sure-footed. Really happy with that.




Cleaning the bikes can happen another day.

Also out on my MTB today. Slick tyres and low skill on mud = amateur offs.

Started the 356 and ran for 2-3 mins. First time in over 6 months. Needs a tune up. Put an event in my calendar to start it as list every 2 weeks and drive on dry days.

15 anniversary this year and 3 week + trip booked. Ultech, Hanover, Berlin, Lodz, Wroclaw (my Polish colleagus said to skip Warsaw this time), Brno, Krumlov, Linz, Nurnberg, Strasbourg and Leige. We have tried to avoid the amazing cities we visited before. Any ideas for what to see /do much appreciated?

It was a frustrating mtb morning, tbh. Two weeks ago it was slop, which was fun. Last week it was solid and fast, also fun. This morning was a mix of the two and the flow was atrocious.

Krumlov is lovely. Great fly fishing there if you're into that. Brilliant market in the main square some days as well. The Egon Schiele museum looks great but was closed when we were there.

I’m not sure when you’re making this trip, but it’s always been a dream of mine to drive down from Salzburg to Zell am See and on to the Grossglockner High Alpine pass, real Porsche country. Open from the start of May. Maybe you’ve already done it?

We missed it last time. We had a stop in Salzburg. I think we are leaving Austria before the end of April so another one for the list
