I'm with RH Specialist, feels like there has been some price creep but happy with service to date.

RH for me too, been with them on most cars for years, but the Porsche is still, in my opinion, cheap to insure.

Re: New Year - old question... Insurance
I use Locktons for the Porsche, not cheap, but also no silly trying-it-on price rises. The personal service is always good, but best of all PCGB trackday cover is thrown in. For the 36 Frazer Nash/BMW I’m currently with Lancaster. The algorithms didn’t know quite what to charge…

Re: New Year - old question... Insurance
We have used Cherished Car Insurance in Farnham since we bought the 914/6 18 years ago, and now have our two tractors insured with them as well. The premiums have been reasonable, and they are pleasant and straightforward to deal with.
Luckily, we haven't had to put them to the acid test of making a claim, but otherwise we can't fault them.
Unfortunately they don't insure competition cars, it costs vastly more to insure the hillclimb 911 that is trailered everywhere on the road than it does for the 914/6 for 5000 miles driving

Re: New Year - old question... Insurance
Good call - I will do a summary of what I've been paying, what the quotes were this year etc. once I have them all - Hagerty as still yet to send me a renewal - still have till end of month but they seems slow this year. I have two other quotes so far with some difference between them and awaiting a call from one other who said they'd get their specialist multi car department to call me Thursday or Friday but...

Re: New Year - old question... Insurance
I am with Heritage so will be interesting what the renewal will be in a couple of months.
What annoys me most about insurance companies, especially for normal cars, is you say to your current insurer when renewal arrives, that you can find it cheaper elsewhere (say comparison site) and they offer to match it.............so why didn’t you bloody do that when you sent inflated renewal through.............just trying it on every time!

My modified 912 is £235 for the year with RH, same uses as Ollie mentioned and a £45k agreed value. It actually went down £20 this year over last which shocked me massively!

Re: New Year - old question... Insurance
For many years I've been with Hagerty.
Previously tried A Plan who did not know the difference between a roll cage and a roll bar,
Hagerty were totally understanding of the dual role of my 911 at the time.
Further, they packaged the cover of my Lola and it's trailer to the 911 for just over £400, 60K AV on the 911, and 35K on the Lola, 2K on the trailer.
No miles limit on the 911.
Insuring the Lola race car can be a real hassle and v expensive.(elsewhere) so Hagerty suit my needs well, and the premium only went up by £11 iirc on 2023.
My Boxster is with LV and premium came down about £11 too for 2024 / 25.
Real crunch only comes when you have to make a claim (and the aftermath), but this has not happened to me yet.

Good to hear - going to contact them but....
'Chubb’s classic car insurance typically covers vehicles that are at least 30 years old'
My Boxster and Camper aren't quite there yet - but will chat with them and see if possible. Also 'Vehicles must also be garaged' - only my 911s are garaged

Re: New Year - old question... Insurance
Nearly there!
Rough details...
- 4 cars, all mods declared
- combined agreed value of circa £150,000
- 2 garaged, 2 carport/driveway
- UK and EU Breakdown
- Choice of repairer
- Limited mileage - real mix here, some combined for 4 of 8K, some no limits apart from the newer cars (Boxster and Camper)
- Excess £100-500 depending on vehicle
So last year with Hagerty I was paying £880, they've offered a renewal of £1007
ClassicLine - probably the best all round package at the moment at £868
RH - haven't followed up with a quote but it was around £1100
Footman James - £1353
So quite the range at the moment
