Wonderful :bounce: . So which would it be, 72 Carrera RS or one of those? RS probably a bit more ££. The way taxes are going, thinking I may as well cash-in pensions/investments, buy a storage lift and have one. As my old dad used to say "you're a long time dead son".

With my hypothetical ¼ million Euro? Tough choice. My splittie and 964 are my pension...

RS everyday

Think the comparison in period is the 2.4S .. a few magazines have done back to back comparison with the dino and the 2.4S

In terms of looks I’d have the dino , preferably in champagne gold

From what I’ve read , in driving terms I’d have the Porsche

And on that note , needed some cash for tonight’s village car club Xmas meal … so thought I’d get in the spirit whilst the roads are salt free and take the 2.4S . Forget how well this thing goes

Nice pics. Perfect back roads to enjoy these cars. Think I'll go get fuel and take mine out again. Always feel it's a pity they didn't incorporate a choke on the carburettor cars. Would help it spark into life when it's only 5oC outside.

.

For me the 246 Dino is one of the best (possibly even the best) looking road cars ever produced - unfortunately the closest I ever got to owning one was a Stratos replica with a Dino engine ...

I love the shape of the 246. Beautiful.

Have a roadtest somewhere comparing a late one with a Carrera 2.7 like mine.

The interweb says the Ferrari was £6620 in 74. Lower than I thought seems a few grand low based on below.

Porsche were certainly expensive. Chart below year later I think but you had to really want your 911 in those days versus a couple of E-typeS! I was zero years old so don’t remember! Take a look fascinating.

Lovely free-revving & responsive engine - albeit a bit lacking in power ... however what a fabulous sound it made !!

When I was looking at 911's in the late 70's/early 80's, the 246 Dino and the Porsche 911 2.4S were selling for the same prices, around £4-£4.5k from memory.
At the time, the Dino rusted even faster than an early 911S !!!!

Crazy how low the price for an E-Type. No wonder they sold well. Accountants making quick returns at the expense of quality and future reputation??

I bought another battery. tried it straight off that but still the same. put the original back on and then used the new one to jump it. bloody thing gave 2 or 3 quick spins then back to the slug.

New high torque starter incoming.

Are you confident your earth strap connections are good? Could be dropping volts across bad joints when attempting to crank. Only takes a few tens of milliohms to cause an issue.
