Bit of advice from the watch experts please.

My old fella has had this Cartier Panthere since 1984..

He’s worn it daily so it has a fair amount of patina but he’s had it serviced every other year by Cartier so has a lot of sentiment value.

He caught the bracelet whilst gardening and seems to have lost one of the links.

Cartier are saying they can’t or won’t repair it and can only offer a replacement bracelet at 7k

Here’s a picture or two:

I think it’s a 15mm width bracelet..

I’ve had a little look online and I’m pretty sure that links are available at a fairly reasonable cost and that the bracelet can be repaired..but I know a couple on here are in the trade and would offer their honest opinion.

Any advice much appreciated :)

I’d say if you had a few links that would be an easy repair

It’s a bit like the Porsche Tax, Porsche say it can’t be repaired but every other good Indy is doing it !

70sThrowback wrote:Question for the watch experts. Looking to get a watch for the Mrs, she is quite petite, and I was thinking about a Cartier Panthere. These seem to have been produced for years. The question is, is there any era of Panthere that is better than another? I can get a brand new one for circa £4000, but older ones seem to range from £1-3k. TIA
Hi there
I know very little about Cartier but an old friend of mine is looking to sell this

Ladies Cartier Steel Tank Francaise, Pink Mother of Pearl Dial,

Boxed, papers. Links etc

Looking at what they fetch it would seem she’s asking a very sensible price

Given there’s some Cartier chat on this thread I thought I’d mention it in case anybody is interested

PM me for more images and details

That’s very nice Chris. Two of my favourite things my dad gave me were his original U.K. drivers license and the Omega Seamaster he wore on his wedding day.

Chris
I like that a lot. Always been a fan of Longines for some reason. Good design, not to ostentatious.

I'm looking for a pre-impact bumper 911S or other high-revving 911 to restore - please let me know if you see one.

Agreed. I’m becoming a fan of many of their watches - in fact I have a Longines on the wrist today all be it a bit more ostentatious than Chris’ lovely heirloom

Nice that Thomas. Is the bezel original? Interesting colour contrast.

Wearing this Oris diver while on holiday. Used to have it on a NATO but just a fabric strapImage

Interesting new site, looks like the Watch Collecting format but managed sales and great pictures.

Anyone tried them?
