I think that was near Harrogate , test drive by potential customer
It was at Autoclassica in Knaresborough ( managed by the infamous Andrew Mearns ) - I think that was originally owned by Nick Faldo ( his wife attacked it with a 9 iron when she found out he was. ( allegedly) having an affair with his ( female ) caddy ). It was fully repaired and for sale with them. I bought quite a few cars from them and actually took this for a test drive, I think it was around 2004 and was up for sale for £125,000, ( I was more focussed on buying an F40 at the time and went after that instead only to get flicked by the dealer in Geneva after I'd had my offer accepted ) - the 959 was crashed on a bend on the road from Knaresborough to Minskip about three months later !

Brings back a 'what if' memory of my trip in a 959 - Wayne Dempsey, founder of Pelican Parts, took me out in his black 959 on the roads around south LA. Holy sh*t - he demonstrated the two-stage turbo set-up in regular traffic. Hitting around 120mph, as he weaved in and out of the )non-freeway) traffic, I recall my life flashing before my eyes as I wondered how well a 959 would stand up to a head-on crash at speed... Happy days.

Yes, chased him for years.
The 2.4 ES engine in the 911 just was not powerful enough.
180 bhp v nearly 400 of the Cossie.
He sold it a year ago.
