Bonnet badge

Post by RichardBTek »

Hi Guys

Odd question I know! Does anyone know if an early 71 911 orange bonnet badge has holes in the same place the later ones and if they fit the bonnet shape. Reason is I have a later badge ((996559.211.01 off a Boxter) in new condition that I could fit until an older type comes along (I'd rather spend the money on other things on the car at the moment). As the bonnet needs holes drilling I'm reluctant to drill holes if they might be in the wrong place and I cant try it without drilling holes!! 🤦‍♂️ If anyone has an old badge in reasonable condition and right price I might be interested as well.

Many thanksd

Richard

Hi Richard

The bonnet badge pins on an orange bar badge (pre 1974) are exactly 3cm apart. I have no idea if that matches later badges.
What is your budget for an original badge?

Regards
Mike

Thanks Mike the're the same as the later type then. Regarding my budget, not a great deal I'm afraid. I'm just starting the re assembly process after a long and grueling shell rebuild and I'm ploughing money into the reassembly so I'm trying to prioritize. Have you a spare or what do they go for?

Short bonnet later 911 badges fit as that’s what my car used to have before I bought a proper one off Mike ;) Guess things might have been scaled up by the time Porsche got to the Boxster

Or find a cheap badge on ebay where the pins or a pin has broken off, and stick it on the bonnet with double sided tape or sikaflex, until you find the right badge for you?

Something like this??

Thanks Guys. I think we can say they're all the same size and shape, just design. Mike I'll probably be in touch in the near future
