I've seen many (what seem to me) ridiculous prices asked for 'rare' parts but these seats reach new heights :

- & by the seller's own admission:

" however they have been restored sympathetically at the time in a non-OEM Material with extra foam in one setback and would expect any buyer to restore these fully with new covers and potentially foam/elastic/paint if needed."

"and would expect a full factory restoration of all works to cost between £2.5-3.5k depending on spec/work."

Obviously anyone can ask whatever they like for items they're advertising - but are there really people paying these sorts of prices ?

The 68 ones are going for similar to what you said Matt

But the 1st gen seats seem to be commanding serious premiums, probably for big builds in the US, hence the BAT sold prices of 27k USD and 30k USD

Always going to divide opinion asking big money, but having lost a lot of money on my 996’s recently I can’t afford to not push for what some clearly feel they are worth. Sorry everyone, as I always try to do with other parts, I would have liked to pass on to a fellow DDK member cheap, but need to get out of these as much as I can.

Everyone will consider if any part is value for money and you buy or do not buy.

For me I would not pay for those, but I don't need them as my car is very very far from the norn and is nothing like an original car in any respect, but can see another party paying happily as they simply have to have that spec. and the price is just that, the price to have what you want.

Personally (and I’m not alone in this view) I think a lot of people are sitting on their hands at the moment and only buying stuff if it’s super cheap…

Made me think that, it is 6 x the cost I paid for my rimpy 911T which included shipping to my home, or some would say what it is now worth today!!

You can see why you would thieve an early car and break it for parts, far less chance of getting caught. (I imagine)

Tricky one this,

We are in the rarified air of the tip of Everest with this item.

These usually appear up for sale as a single seat, very rarely a matching pair.

There are maybe only 12 owners in the UK who would be interested in those seats as an original item. Several of them may already have this part in their 67S, either from new or as a replacement, so the market here for them is tiny.

I can fully understand the seller putting these on eBay to advertise them to a worldwide audience and asking a high starting price (with negotiation) to a slightly expanded audience who might be interested (approx 1800). With many cars having the seats already and some cars lost to the world forever the seller is aiming for a very small bullseye.

On the other hand if you don’t have them and you want them you are going to wait a very long time before another pair surfaces for sale and by then they could be even more expensive.
