Some pictures/details of the 10k tacho that Eric has for sale:





- & additional details confirmed (but not shown in the above photos) :

- part no. printed on the dial is the (correct) 901.741.302.06
- '30000 Imp' stamped into the metal casing (signifying that it's a genuine 10k tacho not a converted 8k tacho)

Some additional information - Eric has been involved with Porsches for longer than I can remember - certainly more than 40 yrs - & has built/owned some amazing cars during this time.

When looking at the photos above, some may be wondering why any tacho dated 7/'80 would have a '901' part no. & the threaded studs on the back as this feature changed ~1970 for the production models ...

In my experience all 'generic' 10k tachos bought through the Race Dept used these earlier casings & part no.


Hope this helps satisfy any doubts potential buyers might have had.

That’s really helpful and a fair price too, although I believe there was also a 10k genuine tacho with part number 911.641.304.00 (see below) and this is listed in the spare parts list for the 1972 911 S competition version:

Yes, Matt, there were a number of different 10k tachos available over the years but that's why I stated 'generic' in my comments above - ie if you wanted/bought a 10k tacho from the Race Dept for your modified road car or race car (not a spare part for a Factory competition car), this is what you would have received (as far as I'm aware you could still buy one of theses right up to the mid '80's).

To further complicate matters, the part nos. listed on Race Dept invoices can be different to those printed/stamped on the actual parts themselves - especially for things like steering wheels & gauges !!

If I understand correctly, it has to do with ignition differences between early and later models.

As with production tachs, the '901' 10,000rpm tachs are for models without CDI or with CDI working in conjuction with the intermediate unit (einbau senkrecht). Upto October 1970.

'911' tachs (both production and race) were introduced after October 1970 as Porsche discontinued the intermediate unit.

The factory, even in the eighties, still made parts for earlier models.
