Need fuel pump for 1973 911S

Post by majordad »

Has anyone got a working fuel pump to suit my 73 S?

Or, where would i look to buy one ?

While the car is an73S it has a later 2.7 RS MFI spec engine , are all 69-77 pumps the same ?

Mike Champion has this one on eBay:

Tested working apparently but not sure if it’s suitable though?

My Opinion : Pump in attachment is not same as mine , and also NOT what I consider correct for E/ S/ RS engine (even though seller says it is !!)
My no is 580970001 and there are three connections (fuel) - supply , feed and return - from memory one is bigger than other two !

Thought - Dave , what's the problem ? There is not a lot to go wrong - I would whip out the 4 screws holding top on. Try motor - if that works , it's probably a clean up job on the top end required (modern fuels left sitting - not good for them) ... if motor no worky , then you do have a problem !

The pump I removed is 0580970001. The pump works but there’s a small cover at the top that holds in a spring. This cover has a hole and previously someone did a bodge repair using metal weld.

Cortina , I’m sure your pump is what I need
