_Baudett wrote:i came across this magnificent post to praise your great work and dedication in finding every detail for the vehicle, model, and year. I will be paying more attention to this forum and this post. For now, after a 'brief' reading, I consider it extremely comprehensive regarding how to and how not to do an S/T depending on the dates within the same year... Again, my congratulations to your entire team!!
Thanks Baudett!

It’s a massive undertaking but I do get a huge amount of personal satisfaction from my quest for maximum authenticity and accuracy, no matter how daft it might seem to others!

This arrived today from Ni-Cola Auctions - original alu rear panel in generally excellent condition (a little dirty and twisted with some shutz on the back but nothing a little fettling can’t sort out) to replace the so-so repro one I had…

I think it’s Signal Yellow (with no later colour change) and that’s quite possibly the colour Georg Loos used on 0955, although it might actually be Light Yellow?…

I think it would be an obsession bordering on insanity if I was determined to find out exactly what permitted mods Loos might have undertaken to the car between Chrzanowski taking delivery of the car on 01/03/72, renting it to Loos for the 1st round of the European GT Championship (Nurburgring 300kms on 03/04/72) and Le Mans week that year…

And all cleaned up. Amazing condition for a flimsy 52+ year old alu panel - just needs a couple of minor repairs and some straightening up and then some dog bone brackets riveting on and some exhaust cut outs on the lower edge…

Light fittings beautifully flush too.

Flared rear bumpers next…

Looking great, really coming together.
Love the engine lid, I'd be tempted not to paint keep it as is.

I know what you mean Rich and it is a really special thing just as it is. However this photo is my Image inspiration for this project and it’s going to have to go Tangerine and Signal Yellow I’m afraid…

The front bumper is just a mockup to see what it looks like and will need some 914 engine grille mesh in the cut-outs

Image

These lateral grilles bought from Karmann Konnection for £25 should hopefully do the job just fine…

The rear panel (and a small amount of the steel quarter bumpers) needs to be modified for the 2 semi-circular cut-outs for the 2.5l megaphone exhaust system:

It would seem that maybe I am completely mad to be undertaking this stupidly expensive project and also be trying to sell surplus parts at the moment…🫣
