This was part of the drive from San Sebastian to Barcelona. We left San Sebastian in the wet. Driving through green hills. Roads that snake in-between them. Under tunnels. It really make me drive carefully as I didn't want to slide off the road. Then the rain disappeared and we headed into the dry mountains. Google make us turn off the dual carriageway onto this single track road

Re: Northern Spain Trip
We are having a relaxing stop in Barcelona. Visiting museums and interesting buildings. Our hotel is lucky enough to be in walking distance of the Sagrada Familia and Gothic Quarter. Two coffees for 4 EUR and set menus for lunch for 16. Mrs B has discovered Vermut.
More Art Nouveau than Paris and friendlier to.

Blimey. I go away from DDK for a few weeks and Neil and Mrs B are off on another jaunt. Hope the car’s running better now. Although it’s academic if Mrs B likes the waiters and has discovered Vermouth. Road to ruin. And the things you learn - Neil’s triathlon past. Who knew? Keep it coming..

Re: Northern Spain Trip
This morning we visited Casa Amattler. A very interesting house own by Mr Amattler a chocolate maker. Well worth a visit and not nearly as busy as the Guardi next door.
After our afternoon nap we walked to the Picasso Museum. I hadn't realised that he produced some very fine oil works before his more experimental phases. The Gothic Quarter and the building the Museum is hosted in is almost as cool as the painting
We returned to La Pedrera (we visited yesterday) for a roof top jazz concert. Mrs B thought some of songs were ok!
Unfortunately, an 8 hour drive awaits tomorrow

Re: Northern Spain Trip
8 hours is too long in a car. I stopped at a service station to check the carbs and exactly the same cylinder was unresponsive to the mixture screw. I lot out the idle jet and it was blocked with black slush.
Definitely time to change the hoses. I think 8mm is the standard inside diameter and how do I know if the hose will work with ethanol?

Ethanol-resistant fuel hose for carb-equipped engines should have 'SAE J30 R6' printed on it (the higher-rated R9 hose is recommended for injected engines).

Re: Northern Spain Trip
Yes Clive and thank you Andy. We were quite tired yesterday after a long hot drive. When we plan our next trip will will not do another drive that long again. Thinking about long trips I'm going to walk in Hong Kong later in the year and Mrs Bardsley will join me for a week before we head to the southern island of Japan for a week. I've figured out how to tell Mrs B she is traveling back cattle class but I'm not:(. Simply because I'm not paying for my flights.
Borges has been the pleasure surprise of the trip. A pretty medieval town. After bit of searching we found out way in a quiet upstairs apartment (more on than later). We used the Michelin guide and found a nice restaurant 4 mins walk away. A wander by the river revealed a pretty garden and town centre.
The meal was enjoyable but frankly I was a little too tired to enjoy it. We struggled home and fell into a deep sleep ... Until the annoying twats arrived back to the place below at 2:30am. Shouting to each other, hen put some music on and continued loudly their conversation until about 5am when Mrs poured water over them and another resident tood them to shut up. Idiots are available in countries. This isn't the strangest way we were woken up this holiday but more on that later!
The had only 4 hours drive to Amiens today so we explored the town. A very interesting Cathedral and town from 14**. Lots of cafes. Breakfast was 13.4 EUR for 2 coffees, water and 2 sandwiches. Borges is well worth a visit

Bourges was always one of my pit stops when travelling from Southern France to Ireland and back with Rupert the dog twice a year - lovely small town with everything you need - good choice!
