Need some help with a technical problem - ask away and let's see if we can all help.

Post by hot66 »

Those 'orange bar' porsche crests we got on a bulk buy last year, did anyone manage to succesfully 'age' one of them ?

I wouldn't say I was successful in ageing it so it now looks 40 years old but it's been on the bonnet outside in all weathers for a few months now & it definately looks less shiney & fake.
I very technically attacked mine with wire wool.

Yeah it's not as easy as i thought, I tried wire wool, got bored and used a scotch pad, it's certainly less shiney than it was and in patches has taken the brassy effect completely off, so it's a bit patchy looking now. If i can be bothered i might take it off the car and leave it out in the elements for a few weeks and see if that changes it at all.

Saying that, overall though I'd say I'm happier with it than the red/black one i had on the car before.

I've got one in a box unused if you want Helen - but IMHO your lovely little red beastie deserves an original :-)

I had one of these and aged it with wire wool - just enough to take the shine off it - I've been pretty pleased with the results - I tried to post a picture on the previous thread on it but the picture was crap.

As gilbert said - they look a lot better than the red ones (IMHO)

Car is currently in bits in the garage (zentrum - not my garage) so can't post a new picture for about another week at least
