Surely it's gotta be a dog leg box.

Hi Matt,
I was going to get my 911 box rebuilt, strengthened and LSD fitted but Angus had this available. Its a Mag case, mechanical speedo drive and has LSD fitted, more importantly available off the shelf.
I've already got hold of most of the parts for the conversion, nice not to be having a custom flywheel machined and be getting away from £400+ clutch release bearings. Your engine was looking amazing by the way!
If you selling tickets for the first fire up then I'll have one please.
Rich

Decided to refine my engine gearbox installation procedure thanks to ebay.

Also realised that my engine looks like arse next to the gearbox so going to attempt some sort of DIY Cerakote makeover.

I've no first hand experience but I believe it won't stick long-term. The magnesium needs a special coating. It might be worth asking Angus what he has used on the gearbox because that fan is the first thing you see when you open the engine bay.

Chromate for mag, cerakote for ally. Chromate is nasty stuff so Sam tells me…

Re: Meet Ralph - 1970 ST project
Here you go - might be super pricey for a small job but you can but ask. I think Iridite #15 is the process you want for magnesium, but they will no doubt tell you. I don't know if that then needs a subsequent powder coating on top but again they will tell you. I have all this ahead of me so if you do call please report back! https://www.hard-anodising.co.uk/

Re: Meet Ralph - 1970 ST project
Angus offers this as a service - I had him do mine. It was three hundred and something - can’t remember exactly how much
The simple things you see are all complicated
I look pretty young but I'm just backdated yeah

Greatworth did mine too about four years ago, nice job. Last year I did notice small white flecks of what I took to be the start of ‘corrosion’. I wiped some ACF50 on it and it seems to have stopped, I’ll keep doing this as a preventative regime I guess.

Re: Meet Ralph - 1970 ST project
ok I called hard anodising, had a great chat with Phil. He'll sort you out if you want. It's the proper finish for aerospace applications etc. Won't be expensive he says. I'll dm you more details.

Re: Meet Ralph - 1970 ST project
Thanks all, will see what the lead time is for Phil. Might also see how quickly Great Worth can do them. I've got a set of carbs to collect soon from them so might fit in with that.
Gearbox met car today, clearance doesn't look too bad once I'd moved the fuel line. Anyone modified the tunnel who can offer advice? Looks like its left side that needs the most hammer action.
The £89.99 bike jack is just the job.
