Spent what seemed like ages (when you're lying upside down poking around under the dash) tracing & removing all of the non-original wiring relating to the 'professionally installed' Cobra alarm/immobiliser & redundant radio harness.
Even though the alarm was fitted by an approved installer (albeit ~ 20yrs ago) it was still (IMO) a bodge job ...

Fixed my door handle having first found out why you always leave the key in when you extract the barrel. Will not make that mistake again. Satisfying though. Ouch
Now I got that working my door glass is popping out the runner. So I got to take the door card off for about the 48th time. All good fun.

No - now we have a VW T5 camper, decided to stay on site in that, so borrowed a trailer from Adrian Crawford...
I put led headlights on the 914. The sockets were in pretty shocking shape. I cleaned them up but they will need replacing at some point. This probably explained why the lights weren't super bright. All much brighter as the led needs less voltage. This is the bulb I put in during the last trip in France. The rain was shocking

Rescued the 356 after 8 months of hibernation and managed to get her fired up and running with minimal fuss (no easy task with 6v and mechanical fuel pump only - must say the Optima battery fitted during last year certainly has more ‘oomf’ to turn it over, and for longer so that helped).
Really looking forward to getting out and about and some events over the summer and hopefully meeting some fellow DDK-ers IMG_6010 by Vee Racer, on Flickr
Continued to work on the 914 to get it ready for Spain in July.
I removed rubber stops that someone had put in the holes where water should flow out of the engine bay.
Then I took for a drive as the car had stalled a few times when Mrs B was driving. It almost happened to me. Turned out to be no4 idle jet blocked. I dislike talking idle jets so much that I changed the spark plug first in hope.
Then I balanced and turned.
Then an oil change.
The testing will continue tomorrow

More progress today. Rebleed the brakes. Sorted the driver's seat moving. Installed a cover for the battery terminal cover. Took the other 3 idle jets out and cleaned. Took out the rag a left in the engine bay. Took for a test drive and it's running nicely now. Add more stickers, from the last trips, to the car. Time to add some more
