How do I remove the centre of the boss?

Post by neilbardsley »

The horn isn't working and the Porsche logo is upside down. I've tried pushing in a twisting. I've tried to get a very small screwdriver in to work it out? Any ideas?Image

.

That looks like a Moto-Lita wheel & boss - the horn push is an 'interference fit'.

Use a thin bladed knife between the horn push & the boss & gently lever it up/out working your way gradually around the circumference.

I tried that but all I'm doing is damaging the push and boss

I'm going to try and suction it.

Put some WD40 around it - no doubt with it being alloy, it has corroded itself together. Also give it a slight tap with a rubber mallet to try and free the crud off between the two, once the WD 40 has soaked through.

Thank you. I will try that but it was off last year when the steering box was rebuilt.
